nCleaner status…
24 September 2008 | By Andrei Boghiu in Development, Products, nCleanerHello,
nCleaner is our most popular product with over 700 000 downloads until now. It is also one of the most costly in terms of support, as we receive support messages daily.
One of the reasons behind it’s success is it doesn’t follow the rules set by other players in this sector neither in terms of design or in term of functionality. Of course a major reason is also the fact that it is free while offering features found in shareware products.
This being said we intend of keeping nCleaner FREE for as long as we can sell and make a profit from our other products in order to cover the costs of developing and maintaining nCleaner. We are also thinking about making it donation-ware (leaving it free but asking for donations). What do you say? Would you donate for nCleaner’s development?
Regarding the development status we are currently working on nCleaner 2.4 that will fix existing issues (lots of them have accumulated since the last release) and will improve some of it’s features (many improvement to all modules), preparing it for the next major version (v3.0) that will come with an important redesign (interface and architectural), hopefully this year.
Please let us know if you would like us to add new features or improvements in the upcoming version.

I´m glad to see that new versions of nCleaner are still in development, keep up the good work and thank you for this great program. When will be ready nCleaner 2.4?
Also I support the donation option, and I suggest paypal to do it.

Hello,
Thank you for your words. It means a lot for us.
Actually there have been some change of plans we are going to release version 2.3.5 in a few days (maybe even a week
) that will fix some major issues that have surfaced in the current version, but will also add support for Google Chrome browser. There will also be some interface and functionality tweaks to improve existing code.
Thank you.

Hello,
Sorry for our late reply and for not letting you know sooner that there were some changes in the development plans.
We planned on releasing version 2.3.5 and so we began fixing the bugs that have been acumulating until now (quite a few actually).
During this process we kept getting ideas about improvements for each module and we couldn’t help it not to implement them so our roadmap became longer and longer. We now think it would be better to release a much better, improved version (with fixes, improvements and new functionality) than just a patched up one.
So we decided to revert to our original plans and skip version 2.3.5 to work on 2.4. We are now taking each module and trying to improve and optimize it as much as possible in our current timeframe.
Another big priority right now is the architecture beneath. The code behind has became more cluttered and complicated than we like it so we are also working on a new architecture that will make it easier to maintain, add and fix stuff in future versions.
To give you a status report of what we have done until now…the Start Manager and Find Junk modules are ready, also much work has been done on the architecture which is almost ready.
Next up are the Clean and Registry Clean modules (which are the most important), Tweak and Shred.
Again sorry for this change of plans and for the delay (please understand that we cannot allocate too many resources to this project as we intend to offer nCleaner free for as long as possible). Hope you agree with us that this is the right way to go.
If you have any ideas for improving existing modules (no new modules at this time) or specific (reproducible problems) please post a comment to this message.
Thank you for your patience.

It seems this project is abandoned, right? v_v
05 February 2009 | admin Said:
Hello to all,
nCleaner has not been abandoned. New versions will be released (eventually).
Development has been slowed down by the financial crisis resulting in less sales for our other products that are currently keeping nCleaner alive.
However we will be launching a new version with lots of updates and fixes along the possibility to donate in order to sustains nCleaner’s development and we hope that this will be enough to sustain further development for nCleaner.
Thank you for your patience.
See you soon with more news.

Do you have a release date for this new version? how could I donate?
09 February 2009 | admin Said:
Hello,
No release date for now. That’s because we are planning new features like a Backup System for files. This has been requested a lot and would save a lot of problems for some users that might get in trouble.
Donation is not possible at this moment. It will be as soon as we will release the new version.
For now if you really want to support us you could buy one of our other products, nBinder or nMacro (depending on what you might need and the amount of money available).
Thank you for your support.
